Meliden Poltergeist
A modern-day council house you would imagine would be the last location for a haunting, yet extraordinary incidents began to happen to a young couple and their six months old baby when they moved into a council house in the village of Meliden in 1985.When they first went to view the house they both "felt" an uneasy cold atmosphere there and they also had the feeling that someone or something was watching them from ever corner.However, desperate for a place to live and a home to call their own the couple eventually moved into their new home.
The wife was on her own with the baby most days while her husband was out at work and this is when she bagan to "feel" a strong presence of something watching her, especially from the landing area.One day her husband's gold ring and chain went missing which he always took off and left in the bedroom before going to work.They later found the gold chain in a box of soaps in the bathroom, the ring was found beneath a cushion in one of the living room chairs although these places had been thoroughly searched the previous day.
The wife had become so scared in the house alone during the day that at time she would walk two miles with the baby to her mothers house in Dawson Drive, Prestatyn.
On several occasions when returning home after a day out visiting, their next door neighbour had informed them that she had heard the sound of a woman crying coming grom their house and it was only wen the neighbour had knocked on the door that the crying stopped.Another incident that took place was when the wife saw a "grey mist" without shape on the landing, this when the vicar of Meliden was called.He said the necessary prayers but it didn't stop what was happening at the council house.
When the couple returned home one day after visiting the wife's mother the wife opened the door of their house and was met with a bad mouldy musty smell, and all the cushions from the chairs were neatly placed in the middle of the floor.She screamed and when her husband rushed in behind her an unseen force came down the stairs and pushed the husband against the wall, went through him and out of the door.The wife noticed her husbands face turn as white as a sheet at what was happening.No explanation was ever formed by the couple for this and other frightening experiences at their council house in Meliden.
The couple today live in Prestatyn and when their daughter was seven years old she become rather slow in learning at school, her mother became worried about this and took her to a school psychologist who suggested she talk to her daughter regarding her previous home.On doing this her daughter replied to her questions by saying "I remember mum, dad, my sister and my friend in the black cape who used to come and see me in bed at night time."Do you see him now?" asked the mother, "No, he went a long time ago when we left Meliden" she replied!
