A Mysterious Woman In Blue
In May 1973 the Chipchase family moved from Liverpool to a house along the quietness of Highbury Avenue, Prestatyn.Several months passed when the father of the family was startled by the sight of the figure of an unidentified woman in an old-fashioned long blue dress. He said that "she was about five foot eight inches tall, slim with grey hair. She appeared at the foot of the stairs, looked at me then vanished."
This occurred several times at various locations in the house.Mr Chipchase's wife never saw the figure, although she did feel an intense cold in the children's room even though it was the middle of summer. One day Mrs Chipchase decided to ask the neighbours about the previous residents of the house and was told the "the couple who had lived there before had built and lived in the house until the wife had died in 1971," but the description of the woman that her husband had seen did not match the woman who had died there.
When three out of the four children in the Chipchase family started to see the figure of the woman in the blue dress they
became afraid and it was then that Mrs Chipchase decided to
appoach the president of their church to ask him to bless the house. This he did and for a while all was quiet.
In 1982 the family put the house up for sale, a middle aged police inspector from Rhyl came with his wife to view the house, stepped into the hall and unexpectedly said "you have a strange presence here, i fee it very strongly."They both left without ever coming back.
About two weeks after the police inspectors visit a woman from Kinmel Bay came to view the house and while on her own looking around at what was then the children's room she was shocked at seeing the figure of the woman in the long blue dress.Mrs Chipchase was astounded when she was told and assumed the woman was joking. To ensure she wasn't she asked her to describe what she was wearing, which she did accurately except for the colour of the figure's dress which she insisted was brown and not blue. She then left and the house was then withdrawn from the market.
The house was again put up for sale in 1985 and was sold a year later. The family never again saw the unidentified figure of the woman in the blue dress in the years the house was for sale.
